My name is Amanda Kirk and I have done art, comics and illustration under the name of Nation of Amanda for over five years. Mostly because it sounds much cooler and more memorable than Amanda Kirk, and also I have a crazy common name, so it makes it easier to google me.
I live in Texas. I have three pet hedgehogs, two rescues, and one who came to me from a loving home who couldn’t take care of her anymore. I listen to a lot of music, and I read way too many books. A lack of cable television has made all the difference.
I have done artwork for tons of bands and promoters, and have been a regular contributor to both Razorcake Magazine and The San Antonio Current. I also regularly collaborate on projects with my partner, Mitch Clem, including our comic series My Stupid Life, and our newer project Turnstile Comix. (He draws em, I paint em.)
I do commissions, posters and flyer art, album art, and design work, mostly for pretty cheap so if you are afraid to ask, please don’t be. I am usually sitting around wishing people would ask me to draw stuff. You can also send me emails just to say hi, or to send me pictures of your pets or whatever, I’m down with it. iI LOVE DOING FLYERS FOR SHOWS, IT IS MY FAVORITE. I WILL DO THEM CHEAP! if you are going to sell prints of the flyers at the show i will charge more, but that would be the only reason i would charge more. flyers are what i get asked for the most and they will generally run you about $20 bucks or we can arrange a trade of some sort..
